Baby Rubber Plant

Peperomia obtusifolia

Probably the only baby you'll have soon given all your ambitions and dreams. Unlike real babies, this one is easy to care for.

This plant ships in a nursery container. See it potted here

Low Maintenance

A ten day surf trip to Bali is still in the cards. Water before leaving and you're jet set.

Pet Friendly

If Spike were to eat your plant, he'd be totally fine. Your heart? Not so much.

Purifies Air

Technically all plants purify the air. This one is just really, really good at it.

Native to South America, this plant grows in humid forests and lives off nutrients provided from plant debris and the natural tropical environment. Misting this plant regularly will help it thrive.

The more indirect light you can provide, the better. Variegation (marble coloring) means that it has less chlorophyll compared to its green cousins, which is super important in generating energy.

Size will vary, but total height is about 11 inches and container width is 4 inches.

How to not kill me

Watering

Water once a week

If that's too hard then we suggest getting a pet rock. Water when the top two inches of soil is bone dry. Check by fingering your plant. Oh grow up.

Sunlight

Bright and Indirect

Think bright, dappled light that streams through the classiest of sheer JC Penny curtains. The brighter the better, but direct sunlight will burn its leaves. Let's not do that.

Humidity

Slays in high humidity

It comes from the tropics so mist it frequently with a spray bottle, or use a humidifier to amp up the moisture in your space. It'll thank you by looking good and staying alive.
