Jade Plant
Crassula ovata

Originally from South Africa, Jade loves sun-drenched beaches, the occasional surf, and sandy soils. Too much water too often doesn't sit well with her, so maybe offer her a beer? (Please don't give your plants beer).

Sunlight:Bright indirect light mixed with direct exposure is ideal.

Water:Once every two weeks, or when soil is bone dry.

Pets:Quite toxic. Keep away from pets.

Travel:That two week trek across South America is in the cards.

Indestructible:Virtually indestructible and easy to grow.

Pro-tip: Regular pruning will result in thicker stems and compact growth. Cut within a quarter inch of another leaf or branch.

Only 3 left!

Jade plants are some of the most resilient and low maintenance houseplants out there. Keep them in a combination of bright light and full sun, and they may reward you with small white flowers.

They're sensitive to overwatering due to their thin and short roots, so make sure the soil is completely dry prior to watering again. If you see wrinkled leaves (like how your fingers look when you're in water for too long), this is probably a sign of overwatering.

Propagating jade plants is fun and easy. You can cut off a whole stem, wait a few days to let the cut area dry, and plant it directly in soil. You can also break off a leaf and sit it on top of soil in bright light until you see roots form.

Small: Around 9 inches tall with a container width of 4 inches.

Medium: Around 13 inches tall with a container width of 6 inches.

Size will vary.
